ITC To Look At C5 Licence

The ITC has said that it will be reviewing Channel 5’s licence arrangement following news that the station’s launch will be delayed next year (see yesterday’s C5 Launch Delayed).

It is part of the ITC’s licence conditions that C5 would launch on New Year’s Day and the delay will now have to be approved by the ITC. James Conway, head of press at the ITC, said that although it had not been approached formally by C5 the ITC was aware of the situation and “would listen sympathetically” to any proposals put forward. He said that any talk of fines was premature though he conceded that ‘sanctions’ would follow if the ITC did not think the delay was reasonable.
