ITC Warns Over Ad Timings

The Independent Television Commission’s complaints report for October 1994 warns TV companies to take greater care over the sceduling of commercials.

Yorkshire Tyne Tees was criticised for showing an ad for the film Frankenstein (with a certificate 15) during children’s programmes. YTTV attributed this to human error. The ITC also said that Channel 4 was wrong to screen commercials relating to Japan, for Fuji Film and Proton cars, in a programme dealing with mistreatment of Allied prisoners of war by the Japanese army.

BSkyB was also criticised for using images of Stalin in self-promotion advertisements, and advised them not to use such images again.
