The ITN news service has launched an archive website, located at www.itnarchive.com, which features a moving picture database service.
The service is for producers of broadcast, corporate, advertising and multimedia programmes, and consists of three main elements: shotlists of ITN’s output and rushes since 1955; a separate listing of the themed Collections that ITN has been creating to make selections easier for customers and a picture alert facility which enables customers to program the site to alert them when a particular piece of footage of interest becomes available.
Ciaran Fenton, ITN’s managing director, commented on the website: “Our customers want pictures which match their production needs and they want them quickly. This service facilitates fast picture selection by giving researchers direct access to our database anywhere in the world. In addition, it provides them with an opportunity to idea generate by browsing through the two-gigabyte database.”
