iTunes to sell Premier League highlights

Football Apple, IMG Sports Media and Premier League Archive have signed a new deal that will allow iTune users to watch football highlights on their iPods.

Football fans will be able to download up to 50 ‘Classic Premier League’ matches from five seasons between 2002/03 and 2006/07.

There will be 12 episodes available for each season as well as 10 half-hour extended highlights footage and two one-hour specials – ‘Goal of the Season’ and ‘Review of the Season’.

Downloads will cost users £1.49 per episode or £9.99 for an entire season.

The classic catalogue of matches is expected to include Arsenal’s 7-0 victory over Everton in 2004/05 and the Manchester City Vs Manchester United derby in 2005/06.

The Premier League has also promised to add more content in the future.

IMG’s senior vice-president, Richard Wise, said: “The Barclays Premier League is arguably the greatest football league in the world and now together with iTunes the best in English football programming can be downloaded to own.

“We are especially excited that this deal is the first of its kind, giving UK iTunes users their first chance to download great football content.”
