ITV has announced the appointment of Andrew Chowns as project director for ITV2, the Network’s digital terrestrial TV channel.
In this newly-created post, Chowns will be responsible for bringing ITV2 to the air in late 1998 and will be working in tandem with Brian Barwick, ITV2’s director of programmes.
Chowns is currently controller of legal and business affairs at the Network Centre and will retain overall responsibility for this department, though most of his current duties will be taken on by Simon Johnson.
