The Network Centre has said that it has approached the main political parties with a view to screening a televised debate between the party leaders (see yesterday’s Major Ready For TV Debate).
It has made a proposal for the programme and is currently awaiting the parties’ responses. A press release from the Network Centre says: “The network would certainly be keen to produce and broadcast this innovative contribution to the political process, which will be a hugely important public affairs event. It is too early to provide details of what format such a programme would take and which channel would broadcast it. ITV can make no further comment at this stage.”
