ITV Beats Rivals To Buy US Programmes

ITV has joined with Sky Television to buy four new American programmes in a deal with 20th Century Fox, fighting off competition from the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

The new series are Millennium, the latest project from Chris Carter, creator of The X-Files; The Practice, a legal series from the producer of L.A. Law; Public Morals, a new sit-com set in New York; and Nash Bridges, an action adventure series starring Don Johnson.

The new series will be transmitted in the United States this Autumn and will come to ITV in 1997.
