ITV Digital Restructures Interactive Arm

ITV Digital is making a number of cost-cutting redundancies from its interactive arm as part of a restructure brought on by the “difficult economic climate.”

A spokesman for ITV Digital confirmed that internal restructuring was taking place at ITV Active and said that a “limited number” of job cuts would be made, reflecting the commercial realities of the current economic climate.

He added: “We have a great deal of faith in the business and remain confident that our customers won’t be affected by any internal changes. However, the advertising downturn has had inevitable effects and we are currently consulting with staff.”

ITV Digital, which was a constant source of shareholder anxiety during 2001 (see Zenith Slams ITV Digital), is currently negotiating carriage of its ITV Sport channel on BSkyB’s digital platform. Last week BSkyB’s chief executive, Tony Ball, revealed that ITV had demanded £80m a year from BSkyB for the right to distribute the channel on its network (see Sky Names ITV Sport Carriage Price).
