ITV1 won the battle for peaktime Saturday night viewing, with Dancing On Ice proving to be the biggest ratings winner of the night.
Saturday’s programme, which saw former Gladiators and TV-AM weathergirl Ulrika Jonsson voted off, attracted an average adult audience of 7.9 million.
This was comfortably ahead of BBC1’s offerings of When Will I Be Famous and the Weakest Link, on during the same timeslot, which had averages of 3.5 and 3.6 million adult viewers respectively.
At 8pm on ITV1, Pokerface, Ant & Dec’s new million pound gameshow, attracted a healthy 5.3 million adults, marginally behind BBC1’s National Lottery: 1 vs 100‘s 5.7 million.
ITV1 had earlier ratings success with Harry Hill’s TV Burp which attracted an adult audience of 5.3 million for the 6.05pm show.
Jonny Wilkinson’s long awaited return to international rugby gave BBC1 a strong late afternoon/early evening showing.
Six Nations Rugby had an average adult rating of 5.1 million, peaking at 7.1 million for the fifteen minute period between 5.30pm and 5.45pm.
Without the ratings boost of Celebrity Big Brother, C4’s new US import Ugly Betty saw a slight dip in its viewership. Friday’s night edition of the show attracted an average audience of 2.6 million adults, down from the previous week’s 3.3 million.
