Chief executive of ITV Richard Eyre, and director of programmes David Liddiment, have promised a new programming and scheduling strategy in an attempt to halt declining viewing figures.
The announcement was made at the ITV 98 presentation for advertisers and agencies where Ricahrd Eyre asked for a hundred days to implement the strategy. A progress report will be issued in the New Year detailing plans agreed with ITV shareholders.
David Liddiment told the audience that he had instigated a comprehensive review of the architecture and components of the schedule.
Featuring in 1998’s programme schedule will be a World Cup version of David Baddiel’s and Frank Skinner’s Fantasy Football. Fantasy World Cup will be broadcast live during the World Cup ’98. Avalon Television have signed a deal for a 16 part series.
