ITV Increases Share Of Viewing In September
ITV took a 39.8% share of viewing in September, its highest share since March and an increase of 2.7% points on August. Channel 4’s share of viewing fell by 0.9% in September to 10.6%. Hours of viewing for all TV increased in September, with an average weekly viewing per head of 24 hours 24 minutes, up by 1 hour 45 minutes on August. Both ITV and BBC1 showed an increase in hours of viewing, while Channel 4 and BBC2 recorded decreases.
The latest week’s viewing figures for breakfast TV (W/E October 2) show the Big Breakfast retaining the highest peak quarter hour audience, with a figure of 1.7 million compared to GMTV’s 1.6 million. However, GMTV’s total reach of 11.5 million remains way above the Big Breakfast’s 8 million reach.
