ITV INVESTS IN SOCCER COVERAGE

Yesterday the ITV Network unveiled a £25m investment in soccer coverage and a new team of presenters.

Included in the new schedule is coverage of the World Cup, of all three European club competitions, the Coca Cola Cup and regional soccer from the Endsleigh League.

The coverage will be hosted by Matthew Lorenzo, who will be joined by Glenn Hoddle, Bryan Robson and Kevin Keegan among others.

World Cup coverage starts on September 8th with Ireland playing Lithuania, and on October 13th England play Holland. ITV will cover the World Cup Finals in the United States, together with broadcast sponsors Panasonic.

An independent production company has been appointed for the first time, Grand Slam, who will be responsible for the Network Coverage in a consortium with Central Television.
