ITV launching ITV1+1 channel

itv

ITV1 is getting its own +1 timeshifted channel in October after being given the go ahead by regulator Ofcom.

The channel will launch on digital satellite and Virgin Media, although it will only air at certain times, meaning that breakfast show GMTV will not be timeshifted.

ITV1+1 will not be available in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands. Channel 3 franchises in these areas are controlled by companies that are not part of ITV.

There are six regional versions of ITV1+1 planned, including London, the South East Macro (Meridian and East Anglia), the West Macro (Wales, the West and West Country), Central, Yorkshire and Tyne Tees, and Granada and Border.

ITV originally applied in July to broadcast the +1 channel.
