According to unofficial overnight figures, ITV last night achieved its biggest lead over BBC1 in terms of share of viewing.
Its peaktime share of 53.6% was almost 31 share points ahead of BBC1, which gained 22.8% of the available audience.
Wheel of Fortune attracted 10.2m viewers against This Is Your Life’s 5.2m, Coronation Street attracted 16.2m viewers against 2.1m for As Time Goes By and Police, Camera, Action – 14.7m against Points of View’s 3.1m.
ITV’s Network Director, Marcus Plantin, said ” On the day that we launch our 1996 programme portfolio to advertisers and agencies, this is excellent news for the channel.”
