ITV moves Corrie to 9pm peak-slot

Coronation Street - The Rovers Return Public House

ITV has moved Coronation Street to the 9pm peak slot every night for a week in a bid to capitalise on the live Britain’s Got Talent run.

The one-off ratings-winning line-up, which will run from May 31 to June 4, will see the start of the Britain’s Got Talent live broadcasts and the climax of the Tony Gordon storyline in Corrie.

The Coronation Street specials will see the return of the killer as he breaks out of prison and takes hostages, and is set to include the soap’s most expensive episodes in its 50-year history.

Britain’s Got Talent will be broadcast around the six episodes of Corrie, with 90 minutes of Simon Cowell’s hit talent show from 7.30pm to 9pm, and a results show from 9.30pm to 10pm.   Coronation Street will air its first episode at 7pm on the Monday and the second at 9pm.

Both programmes will be broadcast in high definition on ITV1 HD for the first time.
