ITV Ownership Rules Update
The Government decision on the future of ITV ownership rules is due to be announced imminently.
Indications are that the ruling will be to allow large ITV companies to own two large licences and one small one. An advertising revenue ceiling is also likely, limiting one company to 25 per cent of all TV advertising. It is expected that there will be some protection for HTV and Scottish channels. Also that no one company will be able to own both London franchises.
Meanwhile, C4’s Michael Grade appealed to the government yesterday to protect competition in the selling of airtime.
