ITV Puts Rivals In The Cold With Crime Drama

Matthew Kelly, Starring In Cold Blood ITV saw ratings success last night as one-off crime drama Cold Blood drew an average of 6.3 million viewers to secure a 30.36% share.

The programme, staring Matthew Kelly in his first leading drama role, treated viewers to an hour and a half of psychological detective work, peaking within the first 15 minutes with 6.87 million viewers and a 32.33% share.

Rival programming from the BBC and Channel 4 failed to compare favourably, with BBC One’s film, The Negotiator, punctuated by the 10 O’Clock News, notching up average viewing of just 2.75 million, while the news averaged 4.37 million.

Channel 4’s Grand Designs outperformed the BBC on average, running from 9-10pm and drawing 4.4 million viewers, while high profile American drama Lost overlapped with the final half hour of Cold Blood but failed to match the detective drama, pulling in 2.8 million.
