ITV has secured Lindemans as the sponsor of four major new drama series to be broadcast on the network this autumn and winter 2004.
The deal, brokered by Carlton Communications and Universal McCann, includes a range of sponsorship credits and break bumpers, which have been shot on location in Australia to raise awareness of the wine brand.
The programmes included in the sponsorship are: Making Waves, a new six part drama based on the lives of those aboard the HMS Suffolk; Single, starring Michelle Collins as a mother of two thrown back in to the dating game after the collapse of her marriage; Family, a six part drama set against the backdrop of the London underworld and Rosemary & Thyme, which features Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris as a pair of gardening enthusiasts who get caught up in a series of mysteries involving death and horticulture.
Commenting on the deal, Andy Thompson, head of sponsorship at Carlton, said: “This is a major initiative for all parties and it’s great to have Lindemans’ support for these new ITV drama series. We look forward to developing the campaign still further in 2004.”
James Lousada, vice-president of marketing for Southcorp Wines Europe, added: “We are delighted to be back on air for the first time in nearly three years, sponsoring high profile drama on ITV. The quality of ITV drama reinforces the Lindemans brand’s premium positioning in the market.”
Granada recently announced that Home Pride is to extend its sponsorship package with ITV1, after research revealed the success of the £3.5 million deal it signed earlier this year (see Granada Cleans Up As Home Pride Extends ITV Sponsorship).
