ITV Set To Revise Evening Schedule
ITV chiefs are rumoured to be planning a new evening schedule which will see the News At Ten move to a 7:30pm slot which will then be followed at 8pm by an hour of family drama. An article in the today’s Independent goes on to say that popular programming and films would then be shown between 9pm and 11pm.
A City report suggests that the move would increase ITV’s ad revenue by around £30m per annum as a result of films being shown without interruption from the News At Ten. While the Government is said to be unhappy about the possible move, because the programme would not be able to cover late voting in Parliament, it has no powers to stop the Network making such a move. This comes under the remit of the Independent Television Commission.
ITV said that while a move for the programme was not on the agenda at the moment, the schedule was “constantly under evaluation”.
