ITV Signs Corrie And Bill Up For New Deals
Allaying fears and rumours that Coronation Street was to move to Sky, ITV has announced today that both Coronation Street and The Bill have been signed up in further long-term production deals.
The new deal for Coronation Street, concluded with Granada Television, runs for two years from January 1996; The Bill, produced by Thames for Carlton, has been secured by for a further three years until the start of the year 2000.
“I’m delighted to have locked up these shows, … they are not only huge favourites with ITV viewers, they will also form an important part of our armoury as we gear up to face the onslaught of new competition, not least from Channel 5, ” said ITV Network Director, Marcus Plantin.
