ITV steals the show

ITV1 stole the show this weekend by holding on the peak audience every evening during the all-important peak time slots with Trial & Retribution, Dancing on Ice and all-new Ant & Dec.

Coronation Street and the last in the series of Trial & Retribution pulled in 8.8 million and 5.3 million peak viewers respectively on Friday night between 8.30 and 10pm.

Meanwhile, Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Dancing on Ice: The Story of Bolero with Torvill and Dean and the FA Cup Football highlights held on to the peak audience from 7pm right the way through to 11.30pm on Saturday – though BBC One managed to dominate Saturday daytime ratings with the Live Six Nations Rugby.

BBC One secured an average 31.9% audience share and 7.6 million peak viewers during the England Vs Wales six nations rugby game, which saw England lose 23-15 – between 5.15pm and 7.35pm.

However, the new series of Ant & Dec’s long-running Saturday night entertainment show attracted more than 8 million viewers and a 31.7% audience share back to ITV1 between 7.45pm and 9pm.

The Dancing on Ice documentary followed on with 7.8 million peak viewers and a 31.9% audience share between 9pm and 10pm, while 3.8 million peak viewers stayed tuned to see the FA Cup highlights.

Football and Dancing on Ice also dominated the ratings on Sunday – with more than 5 million average viewers tuning in to see the Live FA Cup match between Manchester United and Derby County from 4pm onwards and 9.1 million average viewers staying with ITV1 for this weeks’ Dancing on Ice.

Wild at Heart pulled in a further 7.5 million average viewers in between the skating show and the nail-biting skate off – which saw Ellery and Melinda skating their hearts out to stay in the competition this week.

More than 8.1 million average viewers tuned in to see Ellery finally leave in The Skate Off show, between 9.30pm and 10pm – securing ITV with a 31.7% audience share.
