ITV Wins Majority Viewing Share For Year Ended March
ITV took a 31.9% share of total viewing for the twelve months ended March 1999, according to figures just released by the Independent Television Commission (ITC). This compares to a 29.0% share for BBC1. Channel 4 attained a share of 9.9% and Channel 5 took 4.6% of viewing. BBC2 performed more strongly than C4, with an 11.2% share.
According to IPA figures released recently, ITV achieved its highest share of viewing for two years during the first quarter of this year (see New ITV Schedule Boosts Q1 Viewing Share).
