ITV1 Re-Vamps On Air Look To Coincide With New Schedule

ITV1 is to update its on-air look with a unified re-branding process designed to coincide with its new autumn programming season (see MGEITF 2003: Pickard Outlines Plans To Revitalise ITV).
The new branding will see the creation of over 60 new versions of the existing idents that feature a range of ITV1’s biggest stars. The initiative will build on the original concept of portraying a “modern and coherent” channel and will feature Chris Tarrant, Martin Kemp, Katie Derham, Cat Deeley, Brenda Blethyn, Ant and Dec and Simon Cowell.
The update of the rest of ITV1’s on-air package, which includes end credit promotions, break bumpers, break flashes, promotion packaging and menu layouts, gives a new modern look to the existing idents.
Commenting on the initiative, Jim Hytner, marketing and commercial director of ITV, said: “We’re delighted with how the new on-air look has been received, all the feedback we’ve had shows that viewers feel the channel has a more modern, fresh feel. This new work builds on the strengths of the original package and keeps our portfolio of idents up to date with ITV1’s current favourite faces.”
ITV1 first unveiled its new on-air identity late last year, the new logo was part of major overhaul designed to created a unified ITV1 brand (see ITV1 Reveals New On Screen Identity To Launch Next Week).
