ITV1’s New Documentary Fails To Impress

ITV Logo ITV1’s new documentary, Greatest Cities of the World with Griff Rhys Jones, failed to pull in the viewers last night – only managing to secure a 14.9% audience share.

The first in the series saw the comic, Rhys Jones, visit New York and get his hands dirty at Grand Central Station.

However, the programme only attracted 3.4 million average viewers, falling well short of BBC One’s peak audience between 9pm and 10pm.

BBC One’s Silent Witness, with Tom Ward and Emilia Fox, banked more than 6.2 million peak viewers and a 26.3% audience share.

Elsewhere, BBC Two’s Heroes gained respectable figures, picking up a 10% audience share with 2.4 million peak viewers.

Meanwhile, Channel five’s Paul Merton in India pulled in 1.8 million viewers, slipping just below Channel 4’s The Family, which attracted 1.9 million viewers.

ITV1 triumphed in the early evening slots, holding the peak audience from 7pm to 9pm with Emmerdale, Coronation Street and The Bill.
