ITV2 launches Blind Date Spin Off Show

ITV2 is launching a Blind Date spin-off show called Blind Date: Kiss and Tell, which will air on Sunday nights at 10pm.
The new show, which will be presented by Sarah Cawood and Brendan Courtney, launches next weekend and will include behind the scenes gossip and video diaries filmed by the contestants.
Commenting on the new show, ITV2’s head of programmes, Daniela Newman, said: “I’ve always wondered what happens to the people that don’t get picked, do they go home and sulk or go out and party together? Kiss and Tell is everything you wanted to know about Blind Date but no one revealed before.”
ITV will be hoping to encourage Blind Date‘s ITV1 audience to switch across to ITV2, following the success of the Pop Idol: Extra programmes, which helped ITV2 to achieve its highest ever audience (see Pop Idol Is A Hit For ITV).
ITV’s flagship dating show Blind Date, which is will start its nineteenth series in the autumn, has recently been revamped to make it more up to date. Despite its age, the show has remained one of ITV1’s most popular Saturday night entertainment offerings and regularly draws around 8 million viewers to the channel.
ITV recently attempted to capitalise on the success of Blind Date with the dating show Elimidate, which was widely considered a flop. The network will no doubt be hoping that its latest foray into the dating genre, the soon to be launched Mr Right, will be more successful (see Lambrini Makes A Date With ITV).
