Jazz FM London Appoints New S&P Manager

Guardian Media Group has appointed Michael Holt as sponsorship and promotions manager at Jazz FM London.
The appointment marks a return to radio for Holt, whose most recent role was commercial manager at production company UMTV. Prior to this he spent three years as acting head of sponsorship at Virgin Radio and four years at below the time agency BDP.
Holt joins at a crucial time for Jazz FM London, which saw its weekly reach decline by 12.6% year on year in the latest RAJAR results for the first quarter of 2003.
The station recently launched the most heavyweight advertising campaign in its 13-year history and has been investing heavily in programming, in a bid to improve its fortunes in the increasingly competitive London market.
Commenting on his appointment, Holt said: “I’ve watched the progress of Jazz FM with interest. I’m enormously impressed by it and excited about its potential. Jazz FM people are unbeatable in terms of ambition and passion for their station.”
GMG Radio recently revelled plans to launch a television station to extend its Jazz FM brand in to TV for the first. The group’s chief executive, John Myers, confirmed at Emap’s digital radio seminar last month that the new TV station was in the planning stage.
