Jazz FM Looks At Possible TV Venture

Golden Rose’s commercial radio station Jazz FM is currently in discussions about the possible launch of a television service. Although still in its very early stages, chief executive of Golden Rose, Richard Wheatly, said that the group is looking at the possibility of launching a 3 or 4 hour service, although there is nothing imminent as yet.

The Guardian Media Group is rumoured to be a potential partner in the venture, although Wheatly stressed that “Jazz FM is primarily a content provider, not a broadcaster.” The latest figures from RAJAR for Q1 1999, released last week, showed that Jazz FM has a total weekly reach of over 830,000, and Wheatly is confident that the loyal following Jazz FM has collected could be extended to the new medium of television.
