Jazz Output Under Scrutiny
The Radio Authority is meeting with JFM (formerly Jazz FM) on Friday, to discuss their jazz output following complaints from listeners.
The problem has arisen because the current licence runs out in December. Jazz have been reawarded their licence, but with different programming promises. Currently there is no strict quota of jazz in their promise of performance. The new licence to start in January 1995 promises 25% of jazz output during peak times.
The Radio Authority said that the problem has arisen because of the large number of complaints it has received; JFM has already changed its programming and its name. The Radio Authority said it will be seeking a commitment from JFM that they will comply fully with their promised quotas in the future.
