JCDecaux Creates Dedicated Tesco TV Sales Team

JCDecaux has created a dedicated team to concentrate on the selling and marketing of Tesco TV following its appointment as the sole media partner for the new in-store advertising network.

The company has recruited former Viacom Outdoor account director, Janice Fernandes, to take up the position of deputy head of sales with responsibility for selling advertising space on the fledgling channel.

The second new member of the team is Kate Henry, who has been appointed to the role of account director. Henry joins from Avanti Screenmedia formerly Translucis, where she was head of outdoor for the past two years.
Both will report to JCDecaux group sales director, Spencer Berwin, who said: “We are establishing a top-level sales team and our order book is already looking healthy. I am delighted that sales-people of Janice and Kate’s calibre have joined us, for what I believe is going to be a must have media buy for many years.”

JCDecaux has also appointed Kate Hayward as sales administrative controller in the sales team, with responsibility for handling bookings. She joins the team from JCDecaux Airport where she worked as development project manager.

Recent trials of Tesco’s new in-store television network show that advertisers have seen sales increase by an average of 10% in stores equipped with the new system. JCDecaux claims that agencies and clients are also expressing interest in the network (see Tesco TV Trials Prove Successful For Advertisers).

The Tesco TV screens are due to be installed in 100 stores initially, increasing to 300 as the system develops. Tesco currently owns 850 supermarkets in the UK and could conceivably install the system in all of its stores (see JCDecaux Secures Nationwide Tesco TV Contract).
