The Mirror is launching a stand-alone regional recruitment section with tomorrow’s paper. The new weekly section will be between 8 to 12 pages and has a 50:50 ad/ed ratio. The main recruitment areas covered are retail, IT, clerical, catering, leisure, telecommunications and nursing.
This is the first time that a tabloid paper has given a lot of space over to the recruitment market, it is thought that this move will hit regional newspaper ad revenue. 6 regional editions of the paper are being produced in England and Wales; this addition to the paper will not be available in Scotland or Ireland.
The Mirror has targeted 500 UK companies, as well as trade unions and other organised bodies. There will also be an emphasis on retraining and education.
