Johnston Press, the regional newspaper group, today announced record interim results for the six months ended 30 June 1996.
Turnover increased 12.5% from £49.521m last year to £55.716m this year, while pre-tax profits increased 55.1% to £12.603m.
Fred Johnston, chairman of the Edinburgh-based group, believes that part of the reason for the good growth in advertising in the group is an improvement in retail sales and he also welcomed the recent decline in the price of newsprint.
