Judgement Reserved On ITV Digital Debt

Judgement Reserved On ITV Digital Debt

The High Court has reserved judgement in the action brought by the Football League against Carlton and Granada’s bankrupt pay-TV venture, ITV Digital.

The two media owners are hoping that the court will rule that no parent guarantees were in place when ITV Digital collapsed in April owing £178.5 million from a three-year broadcasting contract with the league.

Despite speculation that they had been summonsed, Michael Green and Charles Allen, the chairmen of Carlton and Granada respectively, will not be required to give evidence.

The league has made a claim for £131.8 million which takes into account £46.6 million that it will receive from the first two years of a new deal with BSkyB. A final verdict on the case is expected on Friday or early next week.
