Jungle Fever Dies Down With 8.5 Million

IACGMOOH ITV1’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here managed to gain its highest audience figures of the series with its finale on Friday night, with an average of 8.5 million adults tuning in, giving the channel a 40% audience share at the time.

The programme began with an audience of around eight million on average, and rapidly lost viewers, sinking to a low of just 5.9 million adults on average for its fifth programme.

The surprise winner, ex-Busted star Matt Willis, became King of the Jungle, beating favourites Myleene Klass and Jason Donavan. The final was the most watched programme in its timeslot, with competition coming from BBC One’s Have I Got News For You with 4.9 million (22.7%) and new comedy Jam And Jerusalem with 3.9 million (18.4%). However, the all star Jennifer Saunders penned comedy dropped more than 1.5 million viewers from its debut instalment last week (see Jungle Fever Gives ITV1 A Boost).

Saturday saw Strictly Come Dancing once again lure more adult viewers that for BBC One than The X Factor managed for ITV1 (see Strictly Come Dancing Wins More Viewers Than X Factor). As the ballroom dancing competition draws ever nearer to its conclusion, Carol Smiley’s last twirl of the series attracted over eight million adults on average for its main programme, a 42% viewing share, whilst the results show was seen by 7.3 million (34%).

The MacDonald Brothers’ final fling lured 7.7 million on average to The X Factor (38%), whilst their results programme drew 6.9 million, a 31.6% audience share for ITV1. Robin Hood, on BBC One at the same time as The X Factor‘s main show, was seen by 4.5 million, a 22.6% share.

The I’m A Celebrity… reunion programme shown on Sunday night failed to attract as much interest as the stunning Planet Earth, which gained 6.9 million adult viewers for BBC One (29.6%) compared to Celebrity‘s 5.8 million (25.8%).
