Jungle Fever Gives ITV1 A Boost

Myleene Klass ITV1 dominated the weekend’s telly with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, X Factor and Coronation Street continuing to rate highly with viewers.

Friday’s I’m A Celebrity.. took a peak of more than seven million adult viewers, an average of 6.6 million or a 31% viewing share. Over on BBC One, Have I Got News For You and the first episode of the all star Jennifer Saunders penned Jam And Jerusalem put up a good fight, taking an average of 6.1 million and 6.5 million adult viewers respectively (28.1% and 29.3%).

Coronation Street on ITV1, which this week promises a particularly dramatic story line, managed an average audience of almost ten million adults (51%) whilst an average of 8.2 million adults (40%) saw Pauline Fowler’s house go up in flames in Eastenders on BBC One.

Strictly Come Dancing‘s first programme on Saturday, on between 6pm and 7pm on BBC One, was watched by an average of 8.4 million adults (42%) whilst seven million on average (31.4%) saw Clare and Brendan finally booted off during the results programme, on between 9.30pm and 10pm.

X Factor‘s first instalment was watched by 7.1 million adults on average between 6.30pm and 8pm (34.5%) whilst its results show, the end of the road for Eton Road, on between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, took 7.4 million on average (34%).

Robin Hood and Casualty took 4.8 million and six million adult viewers respectively (23% and 27.8%), whilst I’m A Celebrity… on ITV1, which followed The X Factor results programme, was watched by an average of 6.4 million adults, a 31% viewing share.

Planet Earth‘s remarkable oceanic wonders on BBC One narrowly beat I’m A Celebrity… on Sunday night with 6.87 million adults tuning in compared to Celebrity‘s 6.86 million. However, the Australian jungle antics managed to gain a greater audience share with 30.3% compared to Planet Earth‘s 29%.

Coronation Street and Heartbeat also performed well for ITV1 on Sunday night, taking 9.5 million (41%) and 8.5 million (36%) adult viewers on average respectively.
