Just 17 Just Once A Month

The weekly teen title, Just 17 is to become a monthly. It will be transformed into a perfect-bound, sleek-looking magazine in time for the May issue, due out in April. The title has seen a severe drop in circulation over the last year *Jan-Jun ’96 ABC Figures: Young Women’s/Teenage Sector. It is hoped that the new format will reverse this trend.

The title will have a funky modern look, moving away from its ‘comic’ style to a sophisticated ‘grown-up’ format. The cheeky editorial and advice slots will remain unchanged in the new format, but the fashion content will have a different approach; the direction this will take is yet to be explained. The magazine’s slogan will change from: ‘To be sussed is a must’ to ‘The first and last word’.

Emap Elan are investing large sums in the re-launch; it is not yet known if there will be an increase in the cover-price.
