Global revenues from over-the-top (OTT) TV episodes and movies are forecast to grow by nearly two-thirds over the next five years, with most of that growth coming from five countries/
Digital TV Research’s Global OTT TV and Video Forecasts report forecast global streaming TV revenues will increase by 65% to $224bn in 2027.
Nearly a quarter of that revenue growth, or $21bn, will take place during this year alone.
The US will command 45% of global revenues by 2027. Digital TV Research forecasts that US revenues will climb by $45bn between 2021 and 2027 to reach $106bn.”
The report also revealed revenues from subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) will grow from by $48bn to £136bn (54.5%) over the next five years.
Over the same time period, advertiser-funded video-on-demand (AVOD) revenues will more than double to $70bn (up 112%).
The study examined 138 countries and found five countries will account for 65% of global OTT revenues by 2027.
Digital TV Research also predicted these revenues will exceed $1bn in 25 countries in 2027, up from 17 countries last year.
