JWT Appoints New CEO

Simon Bolton has been named chief executive of J Walter Thompson in the UK. He replaces Stephen Carter who left the company last year to join NTL as chief operating officer (see NTL Appoints Senior Executive To Two Way TV Board).

He said of his appointment: “It is a tremendous honour to lead JWT UK and I accept this exciting challenge with pride. JWT has achieved prominence for more than a century helping to launch, sustain and renew many of the world’s great brands.”

Bolton, who is British, currently works as CEO and president of FCB San Francisco.

Separately, it has been reported that Tim Hayward, who helped build JWT’s digital operation, is to leave the company and will not be directly replaced.
