Rajar: Q1 2024 analysis

Ken Bruce’s mid-morning show on Bauer’s Greatest Hits Radio has reached 4.1m weekly listeners, according to the latest Rajar figures.

The eponymous Ken Bruce show was up 7% between January and March this year, compared to the previous quarter, and 46% compared to the same time last year. Bruce joined from Radio 2 last May.

Bruce appears to continue bringing across more audiences over from his old slot on BBC Radio 2, which he left last year was replaced by Vernon Kay.

Both shows compete for a similar aged 35 and over. In line with Bruce’s total audience, his slot on Greatest Hits saw listeners aged 35+ increase by 308,000 (up 9%), while Radio 2’s 35+ audience was down by 54,000 or (a 1% decline).

A potential contributing factor could be the presenter airing his PopMaster quiz on weekends for the first time in 26 years as part of the show’s sponsorship by car brand Dacia.
