Kerrang! is celebrating its 1,500th edition this week – 33 years after the rock magazine’s first ever issue was published.
The anniversary issue (issue 1501) will include stories of iconic bands, from Nirvana to AC/DC, and My Chemical Romance to Iron Maiden, alongside editorial from Kerrang!‘s original editor, Geoff Barton.
The weekly magazine currently has a monthly circulation of over 37,500, and according to Bauer Media, engages with over five million people across online, radio, TV and print platforms each month.
“This issue is particularly special because Kerrang! rarely looks back, we’re always trying to look forward to what’s coming next,” said current editor James McMahon.
“I think it’s that zest for the new, talking about our current readership’s musical thirsts, that has seen us survive into our 33rd year, where so many music magazines have fallen to the annuls of history.”
The news coincides with NUTS‘ 10th birthday, for which the editorial team will be turning the camera on themselves and stripping off for a charity calendar in aid of Breast Cancer Care. In its 10 year history, NUTS has sold over 100 million copies of the magazine.
