Kids Are Rolling In It
For the first time, data on children’s spending habits has been collected as part of the Family Expenditure Survey. The survey, carried out by the Office For National Statistics, has found that children between the ages of 7 and 15 spend, on average, £8.40 a week.
All spending by children was covered, including items bought with pocket money, school dinner money and fares to and from school.
Food, including, sweets, drinks and school meals, was the single largest item of expenditure at £3.20. The other main items were leisure goods, clothing and footwear.
