Kirsty Young Moves To ITV

Kirsty Young is to move from Channel 5 to ITV in an exclusive deal. Her unique style of presentation has influenced the news across all the main channels. She will take up her new position on 1 January 2000 and will present the ITV Lunchtime News with John Suchet and the science series What Will They Think Of Next?.

Commenting on the move ITV’s controller of news and current affairs, Steve Anderson, said: “This is a great opportunity for both Kirsty and ITV… The ITV Lunchtime News is an enormously successful programme and the range of journalistic output we can offer in peak-time will put [her] firmly in television’s top flight.”

It is believed that Channel 5 News will now be presented by Andrea Catherwood, who is currently working for ITV, and will be relaunched to coincide with her arrival.
