Kiss Appoints New Daytime Editor

Kiss Logo Simon Long is to take up the newly created position of daytime editor at Bauer Radio’s dance music station, Kiss 100.

Long will be responsible for managing the daytime schedule of the Kiss 100 station, executing programmes, working with presenters and ensuring engaging content is produced to run on Kiss’ on-air and off-air platforms.

He will report into Andy Roberts, programming director at Kiss 100, and work within the Kiss 100 programming team.

Long previously worked at Somethin’ Else, the cross platform production company and independent radio producer, commissioning programming for stations including BBC Radio 1 and 2. He first worked at Kiss 100 in 1998 as specialist producer.

Long said: “I am thrilled to be taking on this new role at Kiss 100 as the station nudges ahead of Capital into the number 3 spot in London. There is a real buzz around Kiss 100 at the moment as it continually develops its programming with fresh ideas and I am looking forward to being part of the team that keeps Kiss 100 as the number one dance music station for young London.”

Roberts said: “It is great to have Simon on board as he joins at a time of a Kiss resurgence following the recent RAJAR success. He understands our audience and knows the brand extremely well. He will ensure Kiss 100 continues to be a great success in what is set to be an exciting year for us.”

The latest RAJAR figures, for Q1 2008, show that Kiss 100 FM’s weekly reach grew by more than 16.7% year on year, giving it a total of almost 1.6 million listeners (see Magic 105.4 Has Highest Weekly Reach In London).
