Labour Plan Takeover Amendment

Anne Clywd, shadow heritage secretary, has this week added the Labour Party’s opposition to that of ISBA, and a number of medium sized TV companies, by introducing a bill into the House of Commons to extend the moratorium on hostile takeovers of ITV companies until December 31st 1996.

Peter Brooke is expected to make a statement this autumn with regard to amendments to the Broadcasting Act, with a new act expected in 1994 or 1995. The ban on overseas takeovers ends in January 1994.
