Last Unforgiven pulls in 6.7 million viewers

ITV1’s Unforgiven finale attracted more than 6.7 million peak viewers at 9pm last night, well ahead of its rival’s peak-time ratings.

More than 6.5 million average viewers tuned in to see the conclusion to ITV1’s popular three-part drama, with Suranne Jones, securing the channel with a 26.3% audience share.

Meanwhile, BBC One’s Motorway Cops: A Traffic Cops Special, which followed police dealing with highway robbery in Birmingham, pulled in 4.3 million average viewers and a 17.4% audience share.

At the same time, BBC Two’s Horizon – titled Why Are Thin People Not Fat? – picked up 2.4 million average viewers, while Channel 4’s one-off documentary Chickens, Hugh and Tesco Too banked 2.5 million average viewers.

However, the soaps won the ratings battle once again – ITV1’s Coronation Street took the lead with more than 10 million peak viewers and a 42% average audience share between 7.30pm and 8pm.

The second trip to Corrie at 8.30pm, which saw the dramatic Tony storyline unfold, attracted 9.7 million peak viewers and a 37.9% audience share, while BBC One’s Eastenders pulled in 9.2 million average viewers in between 8pm and 8.30pm.
