The broadsheet fight for readers continues as this Sunday the Sunday Times launches the first ever newspaper credit card. Each copy will carry a card valid for six weeks. The Sunday Times Visa Card, backed by the Bank of Scotland, will offer discounts on products ranging from air tickets to car hire. It will be part of a two-card package, which will offer readers special offers on the first level and a full credit card service on the next. The full credit card has preferential interest rates and free personal accident insurance, without any annual fee. Use of the card earns points to get free copies of the Sunday Times.

The Sun and Daily Mirror are both launching readers’ games, linked with and based on television game shows. Readers of the Mirror will have to watch You Bet and Sun readers will have to watch Play Your Cards Right to play the games. The Mirror game begins this Saturday at 6.15pm; the Sun’s will start on March 18 at 7pm. The Daily Star’s promotion with the television programme Pot of Gold last year proved very popular.
