Less Speed Says AA
The Automobile Association says that a new code should be introduced to curb the emphasis on speed in some car ads.
The AA recommends that the Committee of Advertising Practice rewrites its policy to include specific advice for car advertising, based on ITC guidelines that state that car ads must comply with the Highway Code, and must not show unsafe, reckless or agressive driving, nor glorify speed.
AA research among its members shows that most car buyers want ads that focus on reliability, fuel consumption and price.
