Listeners Prefer Speech Based Radio
Radio listeners prefer speech based programming, according to a new survey conducted by Gallup, for the business information company Key Note. Of the one thousand people questioned in the survey, 33% said they liked to listen to talk on the radio, while 30% preferred pop music. 26% favoured current affairs, news and sport and 17% chose classical music.
Most of those questioned were critical of the BBC stations, with over 25% believing that the BBC had lost its way. The younger listeners were especially critical with 32% of 16-24 year olds olds and 35% of 25-44 year olds choosing commercial stations.
