Live TV Launch
Live TV, the new cable channel, has launched today. The new 24 hour entertainment and lifestyle channel is headed by Janet Street Porter and owned by the Mirror Group.
Donna Bernard and Rhodri Williams presented the new morning show at 9am this morning; other presenters include Esther McVey from BBC1’s Good Morning and Shelley Webb, wife of Nottingham Forest player Neil Webb.
The 24 hour entertainment channel has cost £30m and is experimenting with a seamless all-live output format that follows several stories at the same time. Janet Street Porter said:” Fast, fell good and just a little bit dangerous we aim to be the entertainment channel of choice for the TV junkie and the casual grazer alike.”
Live TV aims to treat entertainment stories like news reports and aims to cover showbiz stories live. The Canary Wharf Tower is home to the channel and has permission to project the Live TV exclamation logo onto the side to promote the launch. The channel is free to viewers on cable systems and is funded by advertising and subscription percentage.
