Liverpool Draw Fails To Attract Viewers

Football Stadium Liverpool’s first game of the Champions League proper, on ITV last night, was not a massive success, with a peak of 4.2 million adults (a 21% audience share) watching the coverage.

The match, against PSV Eindhoven, attracted an average audience of 3.5 million adults (an 18% audience share) across its duration.

BBC1 was the big attraction on the night, with Eastenders, Holby City and Crimewatch all bringing in healthy audiences.

Eastenders was easily the most watched programme on any channel, with a peak audience of 8.1 million adults (a 44% audience share) in its 7.30pm timeslot.

Following on from that, at 8pm, was medical drama Holby City, which attracted a peak audience of six million adults (a 31.1% audience share) and an average audience figure of 5.9 million adults.

At 9pm on BBC1, Crimewatch managed a peak audience of 4.7 million adults (a 23.8% audience share).

Earlier in the evening, at 5pm, Sharon Osbourne’s show attracted a peak audience share of just 11.6%, although it was up against both the mighty Deal Or No Deal on Channel 4 and Neighbours on BBC1.

Emmerdale was ITV’s most watched programme of the evening, with a peak audience of 6.1 million adults (a 39% audience share).

ITV has just announced a renewed sponsorship deal for the farm based soap, the broadcaster’s second largest after Coronation Street (see ITV Signs Its Second Largest Sponsorship Deal).
