London News Radio will be relaunching its FM service this week as News Direct 97.3FM in a move which mirrors the AM station’s change of identity to LBC 1152 AM *LBC To Return.
News Direct will also offer a new concept in UK radio with a “tune-in, tune-out” schedule which means that set programmes will occur at set times in each hour of airtime, allowing listeners to tune into the part of the schedule they are most interested in. Apart from this the nature of the station will remain broadly the same, broadcasting back-to-back news, travel, weather, sports and entertainment.
The station has also announced that Neil Webster will be joining from Classic FM to become national sales director for News Direct and LBC. This is part of last week’s decision by LNR to move its sales operation from MSM to an in-house team.
